Borgo Salumi has officially claimed its place as Australia’s most awarded smallgoods producer, after receiving 21 awards for 18 products at the prestigious 2025 DFV IFFA International Product and Quality Competition in Frankfurt, Germany - one of the world’s most revered smallgoods competitions.
Held every three years, the competition is hosted by the German Butchers’ Association and judged at IFFA, one of the world’s largest meat industry trade fair. The awards recognise the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality in meat products globally.
Borgo Salumi’s accomplishment included 3 coveted Platinum Trophies, 13 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals. Owner Luigi Borgo and son Anthony Borgo personally went to Frankfurt to accept the awards following the business’s recent Champions Trophy win at the Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards.
“To be named the most highly awarded in Australia and recognised on the world stage is an incredible moment for our family and all the team at Borgo Salumi,” says Luigi Borgo. “Our salumi honours 3 generations, encompassing over half a century of family tradition - uncompromising quality, never cutting corners, and always made to look and taste just like the best you would find in Italy.”

A Proud Family Legacy
Borgo Salumi is Queensland’s oldest Italian-style smallgoods manufacturer, established in 1966 by Ivo and Antonietta Borgo. Now led by Luigi Borgo, with his son Anthony continuing the tradition, the business remains rooted in authentic Italian craftsmanship, combining traditional recipes with modern production techniques.
“Everything we do honours our family history and the classic Italian way of making salumi - quality at all times, never cutting corners,” says Luigi.
